Research Center of Biomedical Engineering (Universitas Indonesia) and microfluidic ChipShop GmbH Jena signed together Memorandum of Action
On December 12th 2017, the Research Center of Biomedical Engineering from University of Indonesia visited microfluidic ChipShop GmbH in Jena. Both sides signed a Memorandum of Action (MoA) as a mutual agreement between these entities for a joint research project.
"We took a 20-hour flight from one end of the world to the other and it was worthwhile. We found an equal partner for our current development project. microfluidic ChipShop possesses the capacity and, more importantly, the capability to meet our technical requirements," said Prof. Dr.-Ing. Misri Gozan, the head of the Research Center of Biomedical Engineering, delightfully. University of Indonesia is the most prestigious university in Indonesia, a country with its almost 300 million inhabitants. The Research Center of Biomedical Engineering is a center of excellence founded within the university. It aims to bear the fruit of knowledge from the university.
"Being considered an equal project partner by University of Indonesia is an outmost pleasure for us and we are definitely looking forward to the project itself," said Dr. Claudia Gaertner, the CEO of microfluidic ChipShop GmbH. microfluidic ChipShop is widely known for its expertise in the field of microfluidics, precision engineering and polymer microtechnology as well as its unique tailored service in microfluidic system development.
The goal of the joint project will be a microfluidic-based point-of-care testing device. Such device is compact, transportable and does not require trained personal to operate. Ergo, it will modernise significantly the detection of tropical diseases and improve the health sector in Indonesia.
